Breast Pathologist – Day Shift
Southwest Florida | Monday–Friday | Permanent
Salary: $315,000–$370,000 annually (based on experience)
Bonuses & Incentives: Sign-on bonus, retention bonus, relocation assistance
Schedule: Day shift | No nights | No weekends
Start Date: Flexible / TBD

Position Overview
We are seeking a Breast Pathologist to join a hospital-supported pathology practice in Southwest Florida. This is a staff-level physician role within the medical team, focused on delivering high-quality breast pathology diagnostic services to hospital-based clients.
The successful candidate will provide expert interpretation of surgical pathology cases, collaborate closely with clinical teams, and contribute to quality, service excellence, and multidisciplinary care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic sign-out of breast pathology cases, including surgical pathology specimens
  • Perform frozen section evaluations as required
  • Render accurate gross and microscopic diagnoses, incorporating molecular or genetic data when appropriate
  • Perform delegated medical director duties for anatomic and clinical laboratories, as assigned
  • Participate equally in hospital pathology call coverage and tumor board conferences
  • Interpret clinical laboratory data and provide professional consultation on clinical pathology inquiries
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance (QA/QC) activities
  • Assist laboratory leadership with delegated supervision of technical and support staff
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure excellent turnaround time (TAT), quality, and service standards
  • Provide expertise and guidance to technologists and technicians to resolve case-related issues

Required Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Board Certification in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) required
  • Breast Pathology fellowship strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of post-residency experience preferred (not required)
  • Active or eligible unrestricted Florida medical license required
  • Strong understanding of hospital and laboratory operations
  • Ability to meet CLIA ’88 requirements if applicable
