Job Title: Pathologists’ Assistant 

Job Location: Rancho Mirage, CA 

Schedule: M-F 9:30a-6p

Start Date: 08/24

End Date: 10/23

Weekly Estimated Pay or Pay Range: $3,330 - 3,500 (Includes hourly rate, meals & incidentals, rental car, lodging, round trip flight – taxed and tax-free income)

Qualifications:  

•  Master’s degree from a NAACLS-accredited PA program. 
• ASCP PA certification (or eligibility with certification within 6 months). 
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or reference lab preferred. 
• Familiarity with Epic Beaker LIS and voice dictation systems a plus. 
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform independent gross examination, dissection, description, evisceration, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical pathology specimens under the general supervision of a pathologist.
• Apply advanced medical knowledge to support accurate diagnosis and patient care through comprehensive specimen evaluation.
• Assist pathologists with complex specimen processing while ensuring adherence to established laboratory protocols and quality standards.
• Coordinate daily workflow to maintain efficient operations and meet turnaround time expectations for patient care.
• Collaborate closely with pathologists, laboratory technologists, physicians, and referring facilities to ensure effective communication and continuity of care.
• Utilize the Anatomic Pathology Information System (AP LIS), electronic medical records (EMR), and dictation software to accurately document gross findings, report results, and maintain quality assurance data.
• Maintain compliance with laboratory safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance initiatives.
• Exercise strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize workload in a high-volume anatomic pathology environment.
