Job Title: Pathologists’ Assistant, Permanent position
Job Location: Sioux Falls, SD
Schedule: Monday-Friday – Day Shift with rotating Saturdays (shared among all PAs, usually a half day)
Salary Range: $100-135k annually, DOE

Position Summary: Nicklas Laboratory Staffing is seeking a certified Pathologists’ Assistant to join a busy community-based practice in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for a permanent role. This hospital-affiliated laboratory processes approximately 60,000 specimens annually, ranging from routine biopsies to highly complex surgical resections. The practice has a collaborative team of four full-time PAs and is seeking to add a 5th PA to their team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a high-volume, team-oriented environment without autopsy responsibilities.

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program.
- ASCP-certified (PA(ASCP)) or eligible with certification within 6 months.
- Experience handling a broad range of surgical specimens, including complex resections.
- Proficiency with frozen section technique and intraoperative communication.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to thrive in a high-volume environment.
- Prior travel assignment experience a plus, but not required.
- Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens (biopsies through complex resections).
- Support intraoperative consultation through frozen section preparation and communication with pathologists.
- Ensure accurate specimen handling, dictation, and documentation in compliance with CAP/CLIA standards.
- Collaborate closely with pathologists and laboratory staff to maintain efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
- Contribute to a collegial team of PAs by providing reliable coverage and adaptability in a busy community practice setting.
