Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30 pm; no call
Dates: Mar. 16th through June 12th, 2026 (13+ weeks)
Pay and Benefits: $3110-$3500 /week (includes lodging, transportation, per-diem)

Description:
We are seeking an experienced, certified Pathologists’ Assistant to provide locum coverage in a high-volume surgical pathology laboratory. This is a stable, weekday-only opportunity with no call requirements and a strong support structure in place.
- Average grossing volume: ~100 cases per day
- Case complexity distribution:
- 20% small specimens
- 70% medium complexity specimens
- 10% large/complex resections

Frozen sections: Approximately 3–5 per week
Typical Specimen Types
- GI biopsies
- GYN biopsies
- Breast and prostate core biopsies
- Breast, colon, lung, and prostate cancer resections
- Benign extremity amputations
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program\
- ASCP Board Certification (PA) required
- 3+ years of Pathologists’ Assistant experience preferred
- Comfortable managing a steady, high-volume workload
- Strong grossing efficiency with attention to quality and staging requirements
- Collaborative and professional with pathologists and laboratory staff
- Confident handling a range of small to complex oncologic specimens
- Ability to work independently with strong clinical judgment
- Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure while maintaining quality
- Excellent teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills
- Perform gross examination and dissection of small and large surgical specimens
- Provide accurate macroscopic descriptions and ensure appropriate tissue sampling
- Maintain high-quality standards while managing a high daily specimen volume
- Collaborate closely with pathologists for specimen review and case discussion
- Prioritize workflow effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, regulatory standards, and safety protocols
- Communicate clearly and professionally with laboratory staff and providers
- Adapt to changing case volumes and operational needs
