Job Location: Reno, NV
Shift: Monday – Friday, 11:00 am – 7:30 pm (30-minute lunch)
Dates: Mar. 2nd through June 5th, 2026 (13+ weeks)
Pay and Benefits: XXXXXXX /week (includes lodging, transportation, per-diem)
About the location: Working a temporary assignment in Reno, Nevada offers the perfect balance of career and adventure. Nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains and just 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe, Reno provides easy access to hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and stunning alpine scenery, along with a lively downtown food and arts scene. For travelers who enjoy the outdoors and a little entertainment after hours, Reno is an ideal place to spend a few months.
Description: We are seeking an experienced and highly independent Pathologists’ Assistant for a travel assignment in Reno, Nevada. This position is ideal for a confident PA who is comfortable functioning as the sole PA on site, with pathologists available for consultation and specimen review as needed. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume environment, maintains exceptional quality standards, and demonstrates strong adaptability and communication skills.
Volume & Case Mix
Average daily volume of 50–80 specimens
Approximately 150–250 blocks per day
Specimen types include routine surgical cases, complex cancer resections (colon, breast, prostate, etc.), dermatology specimens, women’s health cases, and small biopsies

Qualifications:
- Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program\
- ASCP Board Certification (PA) required
- Must qualify for the State of Nevada Pathologists’ Assistant License
- Strong preference for candidates who qualify for the State of Nevada General Supervisor License
- Proven experience handling moderate to high surgical pathology volume
- Ability to work independently with strong clinical judgment
- Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure while maintaining quality
- Excellent teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills
- Perform gross examination and dissection of small and large surgical specimens
- Provide accurate macroscopic descriptions and ensure appropriate tissue sampling
- Maintain high-quality standards while managing a high daily specimen volume
- Collaborate closely with pathologists for specimen review and case discussion
- Prioritize workflow effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ensure compliance with laboratory policies, regulatory standards, and safety protocols
- Communicate clearly and professionally with laboratory staff and providers
- Adapt to changing case volumes and operational needs
