Job Description
Job Title: Research Pathologists’ Assistant
Job Location: Gaithersburg, MD
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Day shift
Pay Range: $100- $125k/year with annual bonus opportunity.
Benefits: 7% retirement contribution, 80% of medical is covered for employee and dependents, 2x salary life insurance, 10 holidays, 15 days PTO accrued annually.

A not-for-profit organization, the mission is to conduct basic and translational “bench to bedside” research. Additionally, the institution codifies one of the largest and most comprehensive repositories of diseased human tissue and makes it available for investigative studies and teaching.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have completed a Pathologists’ Assistant training program (NAACLS) or hold an MS degree in the biologic sciences with background in gross tissue analysis.

National Certification (ASCP)

Hands on laboratory experience required.

Must be well organized and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Must adhere to GLP, CAP and SOP policies and procedures, as applicable.

Strong computer competence required (Microsoft Office) and ability to learn new programs quickly
Key Responsibilities

Perform gross dissection of human and animal specimens for research studies

Prepare and document specimens in compliance with GLP and CAP guidelines

Collaborate closely with pathologists and histotechnologists throughout the specimen lifecycle

Review histology slides and contribute to pathology reports

Participate in the preparation of scientific publications, often as a contributing author

Assist in the development and execution of research protocols and project timelines

Maintain accurate and detailed records in accordance with regulatory and institutional standards

Support continuous improvement of lab workflows and quality control procedures
