Location: Butler, PA
Duration: 8 weeks, ASAP start
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8.5-hour shifts with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Pay: $3200-$3600/week depending on experience (includes transportation, lodging, per diem)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pathologists’ Assistant for an 8-week travel assignment in Butler, Pennsylvania. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a team of pathologists in a collaborative environment, supporting a steady surgical pathology service. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently and managing a diverse caseload with minimal on-site PA support.

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pathologists’ Assistant for an 8-week travel assignment in Butler, Pennsylvania. Practice Environment
- Approximately 23,000 surgical specimens annually
- Team includes 5 pathologists
- Supported by 2 grossing technicians (1 full-time, 1 part-time)
- No autopsy responsibilities
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program
- ASCP certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant (required)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing PA
- Strong proficiency in grossing a variety of specimen types and performing frozen sections
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities
- Perform gross examination, description, and dissection of a wide range of surgical pathology specimens
- Conduct intraoperative consultations, including frozen section preparation and processing
- Ensure accurate specimen accessioning, labeling, and documentation
- Prepare and submit tissue sections for histologic processing
- Maintain compliance with CAP guidelines and institutional protocols
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to support efficient workflow and turnaround times
