Job Description
We are seeking a Full-Time, Florida-licensed Medical Laboratory Technologist or Technician to join our team. We have been in practice for more than half a century and are a local, 100% pathologist-owned laboratory and practice serving the greater Big Bend area of Florida. We strive for excellence in caring for our patients, clients, and employees.
Schedule: 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
Pay: $23.00 per hour or more depending on experience.

Education/Experience:
- Florida licensed as a Medical Technologist or Technician Qualified to Perform Molecular Testing
- ASCP Certification preferred
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform molecular testing, including instrument QC and maintenance.
- Accession and prepare specimens for processing.
- Operate and maintain ThinPrep processors.
- Rerun ThinPreps that have cellularity issues.
- Operate and maintain the automatic stainer and coverslipper.
- Order ancillary testing and prepare samples.
- Prepare all non-gyn samples, ECC biopsies and surgical specimens.
- Distribute slides to cytologists.
- Maintain records for stains, instruments and reagents.
- Inventory and order all supplies and send out to clients.
- Pull correlation slides for pathologists when requested.
- Coordinate responsibilities for assigned staff.
- Train and supervise work of assigned staff.
- Follow department quality control standards and company policies and procedures.
- Additional duties as assigned by your supervisors.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, co-workers and pathologists
- Demonstrate accurate data entry skills
- Ability to read and interpret notations sent on requisitions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to discern color
- Lifting, carrying and pushing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Kneeling, bending and sitting
- Ability to work with/around laboratory chemicals/fumes
